Was just walking along Elizabeth Street yesterday and
I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Just a
few blocks away from Nyonya, another Penang has
sprouted -- on Elizabeth, bet. Canal & Hester.
With 4 Penangs in Manhattan + 1 Nyonya, and the ones
in Queens,Brooklyn and Boston, that's quite an
empire. Guess they wanna be the Starbucks of
Malaysian food. They must be stretching the pool of
competent Malaysian cooks rather thin (unless the INS
is letting them import more from the home country,
which is highly unlikely).
