It seems like every time I plan a dinner there's one ingredient that eludes me. This time I'm trying some dishes from Patrick O'Connell's new cookbook. One of the dishes I'm planning to make is a "Beet Carpaccio", which has a garnish of little cubes of jellied Citron Vodka. The ingredients are: Citron Vodka (no problem) and PECTIN. I know what pectin is, I know it's used in making preserves. I don't know where to get it! I've tried Balducci's, Whole Foods, and GNC (who had apple pectin tablets). I can't find a local supplier of canning supplies, so at this point I'm stuck with mail-order. Since my dinner is this Saturday, mail-order will require expedited shipping, which I'm trying to avoid. Does anyone know of a local (suburban MD) store that carries pectin???
