Last night was my first Peasant experience, and I only wish I'd gone sooner. This place is excellent.
The night started with some wonderful bread (crisp crust, soft interior) served with ricotta cheese (very good) and an excellent olive oil. My boyfriend and I then split the bocconcini (mozarella balls wrapped in prosciutto and baked). There were only 4 small pieces, but this was very good.
For my main, I had the lasagna con capretto at the waiter's suggestion (I was trying to decide between that, the osso buco, and the porchetta). This was excellent and very rich. My boyfriend had the gnocchi con coniglio. The gnocchi were larger than I'm used to, but still light and fluffy.
I had the white chocolate bread pudding for dessert. This was the best bread pudding I've had. The ingredients were very integrated, so it was less piecey than most bread puddings, and it had a delicious charred crust.
With 2 glasses of wine, the tab was only $88 before tip, and the portions were so generous that I'm still feeling somewhat unpleasantly stuffed this morning.
