Peaches, 2017 crop

zackly | Jul 1, 201712:31 PM     9

I've been reading/hearing about poor peach crops in Georgia & South Carolina due to a late freeze. Yields are down up to 90%. A great peach is a rare and wonderful thing here in the Northeast (CT) . Last year at this time we were getting terrific peaches from South Carolina. Sweet, juicy, not mealy and very cheap, as low as .99 cents#. I hear that California has had a bumper crop this year but I've bought them twice now and they've been barely passable. I've been using them up making smoothies. What are my options for a great peach? Costco sells trays of white peaches but I find those less flavorful than yellow ones and I'd rather buy a smaller quantity. Do other eastern states produce good peaches? Thanks!
