PDX Thai?

ct | Mar 22, 200506:37 PM

the number of Thai places in PDX is kinda dizzying. I’d like to know what people’s “regulars” are, where they find themselves going most often when they need good solid fare, fresh and consistently well-prepared. I prefer curries over noodle dishes mostly but occasionally get a pad kee mao, and I like places where most everything starts vegetarian and you add your choice “protein” – I’m not a stickler for authenticity and don’t mind if a place omits nam pla etc. to make things vegfriendly.

I live in SE and I went to Sweet Basil inSellwood with some friends and thought it was good but sort of expensive. we had a sampler plate of appetizers and everything was really nice, and I liked the larb made with tofu, had a good fresh lime flavor. and I also had a curry at Vege Thai on Hawthorne which was not bad but milder than I expected (I ordered it medium hot I think). I’ll probably go back to Sweet Basil the next time I want thai, unless people can recommend somewhere better nearby. from what I’ve read on this board and citysearch people seem to really like Cha Ba Thai and Sukothai – is there anything good in southeast? What about Division St? What do people think of Lemongrass (also NE)? thanks!!
