Wonderful weekend in Portland. We have the misfortune of living in a town without deli's...so anytime we visit any major city, deli is high on the list. We had lunch at three...most traditional and our favorite for the usual sandwiches was Kornblatz on 23rd Street. Best for Matzo Ball soup was Rose's also on 23rd...and last was Kenny and Zukes...nice quality but even the New Yorker who waited on us admitted...not the real thing.

Loved Andina for Peruvian...good service...great flavors...noisy restaurant...so don't expect a quiet dinner. Not to be missed however. In the Pearl District.

Finally...the best happy hour and Italian...Serratto on 21st Street (Northwest Portland) Seven days a week from 4:30 PM to 6 PM they have happy hour at the bar. One white and one red offered for $4 a glass...both times the choices were excellent. Bar food...smaller plates (actually perfect size) of all kinds of great salads, soups, pastas, ribs, burger with fries...all for $4 or $6! The regulars at the bar are very friendly and the bartenders excellent. I'd be a regular if I lived there.

Needless to say we still have a long list for our next visit...but Serratto will be a top choice again. Thanks for all the great ideas we found on this board!
