[PDX] Portland Farmer's Market Update...

The mushrooms today were amazing at the market. The pile of chanterelles and matsutake at the stand at the NW corner of the market was huge! OM had porcinis, chanterelles, blue chanterelles, Oregon white truffles, matsutake, maitake, lobster, and more. Misty Mountain, though their prices are higher than most, still has a great selection of dried along with their fresh.

The varieties of apples and pears has improved. The pears from Kinsey Orchard were quite flavorful, best that I tried. I haven't really been buying any apples. I took a few pics, but I'd love to hear some recs on who has the most flavorful apples and which varieties.

I don't know the name of the place. Sorry, forgot to get a pic of the sign. But one stand on the north was selling paw paws. Didn't buy them, probably should have, but they were very fragrant.

Sahagun and LOW aren't back, so I missed my lamb rib fix and tried a new place for chocolate: Art of Catering. They had these chocolate covered figs that were pretty tasty and were freshly baking chocolate-espresso cookies.

For my meat fix, I was lucky and Viande was in the market. They didn't have their wonderful pastrami, but they did have charcuterie. The pate was good, but I don't really like pate much. The venison terrine, otoh, right up my palate. It was wrapped in bacon and studded with nuts and fruit. Yum.
