PDX: Keeping food costs down...

loofahgirl | Jul 12, 200512:25 PM     10

Hi all - We're coming back to PDX later this month, this time for home- and job-scouting. :)

Anyway, we're trying to rein in the spending prior to the Big Move (we're going to be relocating from NYC). That said, we are going to Gotham Building Tavern with friends and may do one other splurgy dinner (possibly Paley's; suggestions welcome). What are some must-haves at GBT?

I'm aware of the lunch trucks downtown (where we're staying), and we'll hit the Farmer's Market (are days other than Saturday worth going to? we'll be in town for about a week), but if anyone can pass on some other gems it would be much appreciated. We'll probably hit Karam too.

Oh and husband eats everything (but shouldn't) and I eat fish but not meat.

Lastly, we'll be car-less, so walkable (we're used to walking) or reachable by bus/MAX is a good thing.

Thanks very much!
