Pavlova assistance

i have been tasked with dessert for the family Christmas dinner. I would like to make a cranberry ice cream. This will leave me with 6 extra egg whites, so I thought of making a meringue. Has any one ever made a flavoured meringue ... i was thinking of adding powdered ginger to it, but am concerned that the amount needed would discolour it.
