Pauline's Pecan Brittle, Burbank

jill | May 4, 200507:42 PM

Saw an ad and I always try to patronize the new businesses in the area so I went on over to PAULINE'S HANDMADE BRITTLE in Burbank. It's on Olive just up past St. Finbar church, across from the Safari Inn. Small shop with a nice lady selling her homemade pecan brittle. I tried the regular brittle which was good, kinda like Poppycock without the popcorn, and I tried the dark chocolate covered brittle which was REALLY good. It kinda tasted like the San Francisco Butter Brickle Bar at See's, and kinda like Little John's Toffee. It was really fresh, buttery and not-too-sticky on the teeth.

While it was good, and beautifully packaged if you need a gift for a pecan lover, it was about twice the price of See's at $5 and $6 for a 4 oz bag. I think she had one-pound bags for 16.50 and 19.50(choc). Though I wish her well, I don't see how anyone can stay in business very long just selling pecan brittle...especially with so many SEE'S shops to compete with. Maybe she'll eventually add more types of candy to her offerings?
