Patty Wagon--YES

farmertomato | Mar 17, 2010 07:36 PM

Near Universal yesterday, Patty Wagon was parked about 100 yards from the Kogi truck. Having read here that Kogi had gone severely downhill, I opted for Patty Wagon, where the line was much smaller. I was rewarded for my judgment. Patty Wagon's grass-fed sliders are quite wonderful. Tried several varieties and all were great. The beef was recognizably superior, and the buns were not the crumbly disasters served at Counter. Caramelized onions were spectacular, the peppers and the Guinness cheese on the special made me happy. Down note: the fryer wasn't "ready," so no fries were available, so I can't vouch for them. I walked back to my car past the Kogi line carrying my haul and felt smug about it. Full disclosure: this was my first truck experience, except for the ubiquitous building-site taco trucks, and I found it to be an all right experience. I don't know how I'd feel if I was waiting an unfeasible length of time, however. My patience does not like to be tested. Further, deponent saith naught.
