Dined last week at Grimaldi's on Old Fulton Street. Apparently the Grimaldis sold it to a Russian family a year or so ago but we found the quality still quite high. We had two pizzas, one roasted red pepper, one half sausage/half mushroom. The only thing that struck me as a downhillbinger were the roasted red peppers which used to be divine, the best. This time, the peppers hadn't been roasted long enough and so the pepperness wasn't concentrated enough and the strips themselves--which were bigger than they used to be--were not meltingly tender. In fact Grimaldi's is the only place I get this particular pizza but perhaps I'll have to give it up.
One happy oddity: We had fantastic service. Our (Russian) waiter steered us away from pizzas that he considered less than excellent and, completely unbidden, he adjusted our table so it didn't rock.
