Go to Patagonia... and eat at Ruca Mahuida

For those of you who like adventure I strongly recommend travelling to Patagonia (both the Argentine and the Chilean sides). Among the mandatory stops on the tourist treks there is the tiny, dusty town of El Chalten, Argentina in the northern sector of Parque Nacional de los Glaciares. El Chalten feels rather desolate and hippie infested, and it is surrounded by some of the most wildest landscapes in Patagonia (most particularly the Laguna de los Tres). So it was a big surprise to sample the fare at Ruca Mauida (situated at Lionnel Terray 104, telephone 02962 493018). Ruca Mahuida serves very refined and delicious cuisine in this improbable town. I ate there three nights in a row as most of the other options were of the "funky pizzeria" variety. Everything I had was good (especially the lomo with berry sauce) and the service was extremely pleasant. Very highly recommended for those who like good food after a strenuous day of hiking and exploring rugged landscapes.
