What does the author of "Prince of Tides" and "Beach Music" know about food? Quite a lot actually. Pat Conroy's cookbook is really a combination of his personal memoirs and food he has learned to cook in his travels. (Everywhere from the Carolina low country to Paris and Italy.) The stories are great as Pat's life has been far from ordinary and the recipes excellent--especially his recipe for BBQ Shrimp. (The sauce sounds bizaare but is really wonderful.) This book would make a great Father's Day gift to a dad that loves cooking and needs some inspiration.
