Pasta at Trattoria Toscana & Pizza at Pleasant Cafe

I've been on a Chowhound favorite run lately and finally made it to Trattoria Toscana. Wow! This is the best pasta I've had on this continent. We had the papardelle with porcini accented ragu, ravioli with sausage and rabe and codfish with spaghetti. Each was distinct with sauce perfectly complementing the pasta. A previous poster compared TT to Italy and I would concur. Their pastas really raise the standard here. The price (~$14 per dish) was great value for such quality. The crostini were delicious and the caprese salad was good but would have been perfect with summer tomatoes.

When I last went to Pleasant Cafe (Roslindale), the table next to me (and many other tables) had pizza that looked and smelled right. Last night we got a sausage pizza ($10.75) for takeout and it was very good. This place is a real time warp and the pizza arrived through the same wormhole. It is the thin crust pizza of my youth, not fancy but honest, with the right balance of cheese, sauce, and toppings.
