Passover Potato Kugel

I am trying to understand why Passover Potato Kugel is so expensive. I went to Brachs last night and saw that they were selling tiny tins (< 1 pound) of potato kugel for $6.50. It used to cost anywhere between $1.99 and $2.99. Looking at recipes for potato kugel one sees that it is basically potatoes, eggs and onions. Potato prices are stable and potatoes are kosher for passover all year long, same goes for onions. Eggs actually went down in price. The other ingredients are used in small amounts, unless they drown it in oil, even so, why the huge markup?
