Passionfish

A friend recommended Passionfish in Pacific Grove and we had one of the best dinner and wine combinations that I can remember. I had the tomato and basil soup which was very fresh and still had summer tomatoes in it. My boulabaise was very uncharacteristic, spicy with middle eastern flavors. My wife's flounder was, in contrast, very subtle with a great accompanyment of vegetables and beans. For dessert we shared an individual chololate cake with a warm inside. The most remarkable aspect was the wine list set at retail prices and that included some excellent half bottles - not the usual afterthoughts that one finds on half bottle menus. We shared a Merry Edwards '01 Pinot - paying $17 for an outstanding bottle of wine.
