I guess this can sort of evolve into "the best of Bucks and Hunterdon", but I'd like to hear answers to the above query from regulars at Matt Ridgway's now-shuttered Pass in Rosemont. My only criteria are: intelligent, creative chef, using fresh, often local, ingredients, serving wine-friendly food in a BYO setting.
I'll start things off by repeating my previous claim: Maize on Main is probably Bucks County's best restaurant (since my last visit, however, the tasting menu has disappeared from their web site. Not sure if it has also disappeared from their menu). I'm also a fan of Hamilton's Grill Room (a bit controversial, if recent posts on this subject are any indication, but I've never had a disappointing meal there and the setting is lovely), D'Floret (Dennis Foy has quite a following and most, but not all, of my meals there have been quite enjoyable), Caleb's American Restaurant in Lahaska (food gets a solid 8/10, service sometimes a bit spotty, the room can get noisy on a busy Friday or Saturday, but his Farmer's Dinners are a real highlight).
So, there are my four alternatives to The Pass. What are yours?
