Since I haven't seen it mentioned here (though it undoubtedly has been, if you scroll down far enough), I just wanted to mention how much I like Paseo, in Fremont. It's a sort of Carribean/Cuban sandwich shop in a real nondescript place on Fremont Ave at about 42nd. The first time I tried to find it we kept driving past, thinking it couldn't possibly be a restaurant, but they've since added a few outdoor tables to make it more obvious. Anyway, great sandwiches! Especially the slow-roasted Cuban-style pork. The Caribbean-style chicken is great too. Lots of cilantro and jerk sauce and great bread. Plus they give you a half cob of corn. Good black beans too. A little pricey ($7 or so) for a sandwich, but that's Seattle. They also have entree versions of things which I've never tried. The place has been thoroughly discovered within the neighborhood, and does a bustling takeout business, but we got there about 11:45 on a recent Saturday morning and no one else beat us in, presumably because they were still sleeping off their hangovers. It's a great place to go after or before the zoo. Everytime I'm there I think: this is a great Chowhound place! I should post a message! And so finally I have.
