visited the New Prospect Cafe (on Flatbush Ave nr
Grand Army Plaza in Prospect Hts.)for the first time
in a couple years and was reminded how singular and
likeable, even hip, it is and what good value (entrees
in the $8-15 range). Husband and friends all had
blackened cat fish with mole and corn pudding,
interesting combo, really well done. I had linguine
with shrimp and lemon grass - actually straight up
thai flavors, nothing fancy but well executed.
Excellent salad with roasted peppers and portobellos,
truly excellent one-crust apple pie. On previous
visits, have very much enjoyed their vegetarian
enchilada, a salad served with slices of rare steak
(not currently on the menu), and an eggplant roulade.
An excellent range for both vegetarians and
carnivores. Super people watching too in this real
community spot, open for lunch, weekend brunch and
dinner. Park Slopers, don't be scared - come on over.
