Another Paris planning post

ViaRivata | Mar 3, 201507:33 PM

I will be taking my 18-year old daughter to Paris for 9 (really 8.5) days at the end of the month. This was her choice, as a graduation present, and we will be focussing heavily on art as that is her main interest (and this is why it will just be the two of us and not my husband and younger teenage son!). So far, we're planning on a 6-day museum pass, with a day trip to Versailles, and then some strolling and enjoying it all. We will be staying in the Marais district Fri-the next Sun. I've been to Paris twice, and she has been once, back when she was 5 in 2001. Our focus back then was a wee bit different, though we did manage some good food (and a day at the Louvre! She was interested in art back then, too).

I've read back a few months and searched on the forum for ideas, so I have a long list built up. She is a very adventurous eater (we lived in Italy when she was younger), so I am open to any recommendations for classic cuisine as well as more cutting edge or fusion. Trying to keep the budget reasonable, but a couple splurges would be okay. We have been to some 1 and 2 star Michelin restaurants, but in Italy.

When we travel, we usually hit our big meal at lunch and then have something lighter at dinner or just eat back at the apartment. I am not sure that this will work great in Paris, but it might be nice to have a nice break in the middle of the day during our marathon museum visits. Is it better in Paris to have a big lunch/light dinner, or vice versa? And if big lunch is okay, do I need to make reservations for lunch spots or are walk-ins usually seated?

I need to make out our planned itinerary for museums, because the lunch spots will depend on where we are during the day. So far, I have Versailles scheduled on the Wednesday. Are there any nice spots to eat there, or should we plan on something bigger that night back in Paris?

Thank you!
