On a weekend trip through the central coast we dined at Paris Restaurant in downtown Paso Robles. For me, the name of the restaurant put me off a little but I was assured by a few of the locals that this was a restaurant not to miss and they were right.
The food was superb, the waitress knowledgable and attentive (graduate of a culinary school) and the chef/owner (actually French) engaging.
I had the seared duck breast - cooked to a perfect medium rare with mashed potatoes and turnips (?).
My partner had a buttery beef medallion with potatoes gratin and carrots. Afterwards we shared the best carrot cake I've ever had in my life - creamy, rich, nutty.
Just a superb meal at a very special place.
Overall, an 18 out of 20.
