I'm a chef coming to Europe for a few weeks this summer, with my wife and 3 year old. We've been to Barcelona & Paris before but it was many years ago. I really like casual, "hole in the wall" type places and am a huge beer nerd. Obviously places that locals love is the key to any great trip. Were pretty adventurous and are up for anything. Places that may identify as "kid friendly" are fine but really, other than fine dining, shouldn't you be able to take your kid anywhere?
Week 1 in Paris we're staying in the 14e, near Parc Montsouris in the Maison Blanche area. We'll be all over the city and I'll make a pilgrimage for just about anything that's really unique and interesting. I get the feeling there might be some real local spots in the 14th. Market recommendations would be awesome too!
Week 2 is 3 days San Sebastian, 3 days Barcelona. In Barcelona we'll be staying in Sant Marti area, close to the beach. Places that are on or near the beach might be really fun. I'd really like to explore some interesting places in the Gothic Quarter. I've always wanted to enjoy a bite in La Boqueria
As for San Sebastian, we've never been. I just want to eat my weight in pinxtos!
Any info/suggestions are greatly appreciated, Thanks Chowhounders!
