Paris in August -- not advisable?

Amy H. | May 30, 2002 09:35 PM

I'm hoping to visit Paris for two weeks for vacation this year . . . was planning to go in August, just because it works with my schedule best. I do know that many French citizens take their own vacation that month, so fewer will be in Paris at that time (making it seem more full of tourists than usual). I think I can handle that, but someone mentioned to me today that many restaurants close in August for this same reason -- maybe as many as half. Can anyone advise me on this? I'm going to Paris strictly for the food, wine and art, and I'd hate to have half of my dining opportunities closed off to me, solely based on timing. Thank you very much in advance--
