My parents are celebrating a milestone anniversary and my sister and I would like to take them out for a special dinner to celebrate while they are in town over the holidays. We would like someplace elegantly cozy with high-quality food where we can relax and linger over our meal and, most importantly, hear each other talk.
There will be 6 of us total, and we would like to stay in the American/Italian/Seafood cuisine. While my husband and I are fairly adventurous, the other four tend to have more traditional tastes.
We are not adverse to spending a bit of money, though the sky is definitely not the limit.
One other consideration is someplace with excellent service - where they will be attentive and considerate and also not look down on us when half of the table does not order alcohol.
My initial thoughts are 1789, Colvin Run Tavern (though I have never been there so I'm a bit hesitant), and Black's. Any comments on these choices, or other ideas, would be most appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
