Went to Pardo's on a Friday night for a date night dinner and the experience was just as good if not better than I had expected. We ordered enough food for 3.5 but only b/c we wanted to try most of the sides. We got there at 8pm and got seated right away. The wait staff and hostess were friendly and didn't have a problem w/ service at all.
- 1/2 chicken tasted the way Peruvian roasted chicken should. I've had Pio Pio in Queens and the taste can go toe-to-toe w/ them.
- Sirloin steak was eh (and it came recommended by the wait staff). Definitely the weakest link out all the food we ordered (next to the tacu tacu). No real taste in the seasoning. It could have been from the seasoning in the chicken and the sides that overwhelmed the steak, but I would have ordered the whole chicken or another side to substitue.
- Yucaita (or the yuca fritas) was damn good and the the rice and beans were just as tasty. My lovely date wasn't a huge fan of the beans b/c she thought they were a bit mushy and it had a lil kick to it...but it didn't stop her from finishing her portion. The tacu tacu we ordered...correction...I ordered by accident and it tasted much better the following day. So I would pass on the tacu tacu (rice mashed in w/ the beans like a croquette).
We split a pitcher of sangria and it complimented dinner perfectly if you're looking for something to drink other than aqua. No room left in our stomachs for dessert.
Most importantly...they had this garlic (slightly spicey) mayo like concoction on the table to dip your yuca fritas in, and whatever else you wanted to, and I would have taken that thing around to the back of the school yard and gotten it pregnant (sorry for the visual) if I could. THAT'S how good it was.
We hit up Sushi Samba for drinks afterwards which was perfect, but there are plenty of places to go in the area as well.
