Paragary's In Sacramento Review

Got no response to my inquiry on the board about dining at this Sacramento favorite. So, now having dined there I'll add my 2 cents.

Over all an excellent meal. I've been to Biba and it was wonderful, but I think Paragary's was every bit as good, although with a more limited menu.

Warm goat cheese covered with ground pistachios and accompanied by figs was excellent as an appetizer. Fried calamari were also terrific. Main courses were uniformly excellent -- roast chicken with rosemary pasta, Occhiette (ear shaped pasta) with an outstanding lamb ragu, and roasted halibut in a mock paella. Desserts were also top notch. Good creme brullee, blueberry cobbler and roasted bread pudding. Plus a nice cheese plate. Good choices on the wine list by the glass, half bottle and bottle.

All in all a very satisfying dinner and a top recommendation for the Sacramento area. It is easy to understand why it is a local favorite -- and we didn't even have the various wood fired pizzas that are their specialty.
