Pannetone @ Major Market in Escondido

Stanley Stephan | Dec 13, 2003 12:46 PM

Major Market has a selection of Italian holiday breads.

If I can't find fresh, I like La Torinese. There are three varieties available at Major Market. I liked the one wrapped in green the best. It has a sugary top sprinkled with almonds. I think marzipan is involved, but not so that you would notice it.

The red boxed classico pannetone has the most raisins and a lovely aroma. It is available in a mini box.

If you like a plainer pannetone go for the gold wrapped bread.

There are breads from other companies as well.

Next door Trader Joes is selling Maina pannetone in blue boxes (mini available). It is less expensive but starting to dry out. Not yet stale, but dryish.

Anyone else have any pannetone finds in the area.

And thank you to whoever it was on the board who clued me into Major Market. The prices are good, they do double coupons and they have a larger selection than the major chains. So, whoever you were, thanks again.
