Paninoteca - 18th Street

Ate with two friends at Paninoteca today. It is a storefront on 18th street. I had passed by many times and always been intimidated by the long lines. There is actually a sit down restaurant where you can get panini, focaccia sandwiches and salads. I had an arugala salad with pear, walnuts, sharp provolone and grilled chicken in a balsamic vinagrette. ($8) It was a great salad although it could have been better. My friends each had sandwiches which they enjoyed. The atmosphere was great - we felt like we escaped out of Philly for an hour into a cute cafe with music and dimmed lights. For dessert we each had a cholocate covered meringue. They were tiny but incredible - perfectly moist on the inside and covered in a good chocolate ($.70/each). I would definitely go back again. A great lunch spot.
