Went to Panera bread to check out their baking skills. Now, I had been warned by a recent blog that their sandwiches were bad, but I wanted to see what they could do with some flour and water. I was sorely disapointed. I tried both the "Artisan County" and the "Artisan Wholegrain"- which seemed oddly similar to one another.
Though both looked great, the crust was a disapointment and the interiors were dense (not in a good way) and lacked any taste. Both needed some serious salt and flavor.
The other breads on display looked terrible. The tomato basil looked like cake and the bagels looked pathetic.
I'm sticking to La brea for my daily needs, especially since Trader Joes carries it and its a much cheaper than Panera ($5 for whole grain and $2.50 for the county).
