Dropped into Panang while house hunting in Chapel Hill (bad idea-- real estate in CH has gotten out of hand, IMO). Wife had the thai basil beef curry. It was wonderfully spicy. They didn't tame it down for American palates but it wasn't unbearably hot either. I had the malaysian style rice noodles with egg, shrimp, and the mostly tasty ingredient, perfectly cooked squid. The lunch menu is quite spartan but the dinner menu has a wide variety of dishes to choose from-- far more intriguing than the Lantern nearby. A return for dinner is in order.
