I was wondering if anyone's tried to the new italian place on the corner or Clark St. & Hicks St. in Brooklyn Heights? It's called Palmira's. My girlfriend and I were going to go in for dinner but the prices seemed awfully high for what we've seen: Here's what I know:
-- That corner has seen at least 2 restaurants fail in the last 6 years.
-- The had a 3 day "grand opening" to "iron out the kinks" where they gave away free food and drink a few weeks ago. We went in. It was packed. There was free pizza and pasta and wine and beer. The red wine they gave us was fairly undrinkable... but then again it was free. The pizza was unremarkable. The past too.
-- I was amazed at how large the space is. I don't know how they'll come close to filling it up most days.
-- The prices seem awfully high compared to the food I tasted.
So... has anyone been? Opinions?
