The Palm - West Hollywood

Well, since I have been using so many reviews here for my dining pleasures, I felt it was my duty to give back. Sort of paying it forward. So here is my review (my first) on The Palm Restaurant in West Hollywood. Sorry if it's a bit long.

My fiancé and I went out for dinner and a movie in Hollywood last Saturday. We have been trying to go out to try different restaurants in LA and this time we chose The Palm. As soon as you walk in the place, you get that old school feel. The place is very laid back and casual. It wasn't as loud as other people have written, then again we were there later in the evening so maybe we missed the rush. So here is what we had for our meal:

For appetizer, we had the Shrimp Bruno. Highly recommend! Nice light appetizer with great flavor... very tasty! The sauce is soooo good! Use some of the bread to soak up the sauce. But please, don't get full on the bread.

Next, we each had a bowl of the New England Clam Chowder. I would say it was good, not great. Big chunks of clam, but not much else to it. Next time I will definitely try one of their salads.

For sides, we ordered the sautéed mushrooms and the three cheese potatoes. Both were outstanding! Highly recommend both!

For the main course, my fiancé went with the Lamb Chops, which were cooked a perfect medium. They're served with mint jelly on the side, which she really didn't care for. As for flavor, she said they were "FABULOUS!" I tried a bite myself and had to say they were very good! As for me, I had to go with my favorite cut, the RIBEYE. The ribeye there is 24oz and bone-in. It was cooked medium, as I requested, and lightly charred on the outside, just the way it's supposed to be. The steak was very good! Especially when you drizzle some of the sautéed mushrooms, TASTY... I have to be honest though, it was not quite as flavorful as the ribeye at Ruth Chris (my favorite). But taking nothing away, the steak was top notch.

The server brought out the dessert tray, which looked really good. After hearing the good reviews about the cheesecake, I decided to pack one to go, which I am glad I did. Very good cheesecake! Especially since it was on the house. Our server was such a nice guy, that he gave us a piece of cheesecake, just because it was our first time there!

Overall, we really enjoyed our dinner at The Palm! The place has a great nostalgic feel, and the food is great! And if you say it's your first time, you may get a little dessert on the house! How can you beat that?
