A weekend in that area produced the following good, bad and so-so reports:
Devane's Italian-lovely looking room on the patio, though they need to turn up the a/c. Good calamari appetizer, though the fra diavlo needed to be spiced up A LOT. entree's were mediocre. Service was downright lousy. Next time, I'll pass.
Bananaz - for lunch. Good food, and the sweet potatoe fries were a switch. half a roast chicken came out surprisingly moist. Outstanding service, but don't look too closely -- the place needs a real good cleaning.
Las Casuelaz (spelling?) - notably popular, and deservedly so. We live in Phoenix, and therefore eat Mexican a lot. this place had one of the best salsa's I've ever had. Chunky, hot, absolutely terrific. Albondigas soup (gratis with some entrees) was obviously homemade. Both entrees wonderful, with requested red sauce on the side -- and that red sauce had a depth and heat that surprised me. I'd go here again and again. But watch the margarita's - they're heavy on the tequila and a bit pricey.
Fisherman's Grille - we didn't realize that it was so informal. Order at the counter, get your condiments, wait at the table. Incredibly tender calamari in thick strips instead of the usual thin circles. Good mild cocktail sauce. Fish in both entrees was as fresh as they come, with excellent cole slaw. Cooked perfectly. I was unhappy with the fries, finding them thick and mushy, but dh liked them that way. Not exactly cheap for self-serve, but wonderful fish.
