Well, I certainly made the right decision on where to have our one dinner in Portland. We almost had to choose Wildwood because my daughter was asleep in the car and I wanted to see the car from the restaurant.
We could do this from the front porch at Paley's. The ambiance is gorgeous with lots of fresh flowers and heat lamps if it's cool out. I peeked inside and the inside is very romantic, formal, just beautiful.
As soon as we were seated (5:30) the server brought out a compliment's of the chef small plate of baugettes with a nice topping on it. Very nice touch. I love their app menu and decided on the mussells in the garlic wine and pomme frites with aoli sauce. A nice glass of Viognier from France was the wine I chose.
The service was impeccable and the server was very friendly and professional in every way. The app arrived with beautiful presentation. Pomme frites were served in a silver tin and they were delicious. The steamed mussells were also delightful. This app is very fun to eat and started off the meal perfectly.
I chose the wild salmon entree with the grilled asparagus on the side. The salmon was simply the best I have ever had while in Portland. Generous size piece of salmon, very thick and you basically didn't have to chew, it melted in your mouth. I would highly recommend this to any salmon lover out there.
My husband had a chicken entree that he said was also very good. Just no comparison to the meal we had previously had at Cucina Biazzi in Ashland. We were in a bit of a hurry, so we skipped dessert. If we had more time, I would have loved to linger a bit and tried their creme brulle which I'm sure was as perfect as the whole experience we had.
We will definitely return to Paley's Place. Not one flaw in the entire experience. I enjoy the meals at top-notch places early, before the crowds get there or during the week when things aren't at the crazy levels and you can be doted on and feel truly pampered. We left impressed and very pleased with Paley's Place. Bon appetit! ***kim***
