Per the Virbila review a few weeks back, I swung into Paladar (Wilcox south of Hollywood) over the weekend and I gotta say she must announce her arrival in advance. I must say the interior is nicely
done and lit. But the food.......not one thing I ordered was good, matter of fact I tought it was
a joke. The grilled octopus salad made it clear the chef had no clue how to perpare octopus due to
it untenderized state. Second, the watercress salad was again virtually unedibile due to tough condition
the the leafs, bitter, and complete with 5" of stems (fortunately the roots had be trimmed and rinsed).
The testones (a variation on plantains) was a complete salt bomb, as were the frites that came with the
medianoche, little to be desired, which I was told afterwards that it's not really done Miami style.
Creative license I see.
Anyway, I called today to express my dissatisfaction, but was left with the impression that there was
not much interest in my critique. Besides, I'm not Virbila.
I can name 3 paladars in Havana that make this place unworthy of the name.
Would love to hear other's experiences.
