Well, there is a suprise Pakistani restaurant hidden inside the Airport Haven Hamburgers at 6801 Airport Blvd. in Austin. A friend of mine, a cabbie, was tipped off to the place by another cabbie from Pakistan.

I'm no expert but I think it's great and the Pakistani customers are really chowing down.

The menu changes daily and consists of curries, kabobs and biryani dishes - mostly untranslated, but if you need help, like I usually do, the counterpeople will tell you what's what. I did see something called Liver Masala last time but didn't have the guts to try it.

I've had achar gosht (beef and mango curry), chicken tikka, boti kabob ("soft meat" as the counter guy described it, "from the cow"), okra curry and a ground meat kabob that I think was called balti. All good, especially the kabobs.

I think the way to go is to order a kabob dish which gets you a free side of curry and a nan. This only costs from $3.99 to $5.49.
