Pad Thai on Grand (St. Paul, MN)

Tried it in the new digs a week ago. Good food, interesting and varied menu, relaxed atmosphere, clean, mediocre service.

We had Pad Thai. It was the right texture, not gummy like bad Pad. Seasoning was mild as we were dining with daughters (ages 5 and 7).

I had to wave my arms around wildy to get the server's attention...resulting in amused daughters, embarrassed wife and a little tray with 6 condiments, 4 of them some form of really nice chile pepper laced oil product. One some sweet stuff that I ignored and a mustard sauce. With a liberal dose of the chile-oil-mash I hotted up my Pad Thai nicely and totally destroyed a 2 week old sinus infection. Ok, it might have been coincidence, but I prefer to think the link is causal.

We had spring rolls which were nice, fried egg rolls were good and the chicken Satay was really tasty. The peanut sauce was not great.

The vegetable/tofu stir fry was distinctly thai-flavored and not bad but not wonderful.

Overall, I like it because it's got good food and they seem to be a little more on the ball in the kitchen than Taste of Thai over on Selby. If they need to improve something, it's in hiring of observant servers.
