I discovered, but have yet to try, another Pacific coast Mexican seafood place, this one in far away Melrose Park.

It's called Perla del Pacifico, and the owners nabbed the chef from their favorite hotspot in Puerto Vallarta. The speciality of the house is crab (jaiba) and shrimp (camarones) sarandeada. Sarandeada was explained to me as an adobo style red spice mix. Then, the stuff is grilled. When I was chatting with them, they were also especially proud of their cerviche. The menu has a bunch of other fish and shrimp dishes, coctails, etc. Unlike Islas Marias, there are TWO meat options, a carne asada and faitas. They also said they'd make us quesadillas for the chowhounditas.

The prices are slightly higher than Islas Marias, but the room is prettier too, at least the bigger main room, although missing those hot Islas Marias pin-ups.

It looks cool, and I'll try and get there soon for fuller report.
