PA roadtrip - recommendations needed

Fisher | May 17, 2006 03:44 PM

Hello hounds,

In July, my family (2 adults + a 6 year-old boy) will be traveling from upstate NY through PA and then to NJ. Looking for some recommendations.

First stop - Knoebels Amusement Park. We'll need 2 nights dinner. Casual, comfortable, kid-friendly. We love ethnic (indian, thai, vietnamese, chinese, etc.)but anything relaxing after a long day will do. Decent take-out to bring back to our hotel room is an alternative. I think we'll be staying at the Hampton Inn in Danville.

Next stop - Altoona & the Horseshoe Curve (son is a train-maniac). Will need lunch or afternoon snack. Possibly picnic to eat while watching the trains.

On to Johnstown for the inclined plane and a day at Idlewild Amusement Park. Will need two dinners in this area also. I think we'll be staying at the Holiday Inn in Johnstown.

Lastly to NJ via Allentown and the Discovery Center Museum. Will need lunch or afternoon snack nearby.

Thank you in advance for your help.
