Just came back from an overnight trip to Stonington and Mystic CT. and realized that it was oyster season. First up was an oyster stew at Prime Cut in Westerly RI. Very tasty broth and lots of oysters, slow service though. Then on to Stonington. Pretty town. Had dinner at Noah's, started with oysters on the half shell and oysters rockafeller (sp?). Very good, entrees okay, flounder stuffed with crabmeat, overly rich, broiled scallops in sesame seeds served with two dipping sauces, good but not exceptional. Next day on to Mystic where we could not find anything to eat. Lots of places closed for the season. Mystic Pizza just didn' look righr. Felt like more oysters or clams. Locals told us to go back to Stonington to Skippers Dock. We did. I felt like fried oysters which they did for me and they were delicious, light batter and oysters which exploded with taste in my mouth. My wife had a grilled lobster sandwich which was spoiled with melted cheese. My chowkid had beer battered fish and chips which she proclaimed the best fish and chips ever.
