Oysters at Neptunes

MelroseShep | Dec 1, 2005 12:22 PM

We had supper last night at Neptunes to celebrate Kate@50's birthday, (actualy 52 but looks 37). The oysters were excellent. The best were Bees River in MA. The Jona crab claws were okay but a little tired. They may have been previously frozen and the shrimp cocktail were tired too. We tried an appetizer of the steamed oysters and they were awesome. Moist plump and succulent, the way oysters should be. We were not told by the bar tender that there was a special on cod cheeks which we would have loved to try. You New Englanders will know what I am talking about, they are a delicacy and hard to find. The people next to us ordered the lobster roll and what a mound of meat there was. The roll was hard as a rock. The roll is more of a dish to hold the lobsta. Wednesday nights are good nights to go. Not much of a crowd. We sat right down. The bartender although attentive had the lackluster personality of a toad. Except for the parking ticket when we went back to the truck the overall experince was good. Both of us will definitely go back again.
