OYSTERS and...

Arriving in NO on 18 JULY for a wedding the following day, and then hanging around for a few days until WED am. So I have SAT am, SUN, MON, TUES to chowdown. Should I forget oysters this time of year? About 15 years ago in Greenwich, CT I experienced the best oysters ever. Deep fried very quickly with a light cornmeal (and maybe a little heat) coating and served w/o shell on a few greens with a few small pieces of Tasso ham. I think it was the light warm crust of the cornmeal playing against the hardly warm soft texture of the oyster that made this so memorable. The restaurant said they were served this way in NO. Any suggestions?

Also looking for suggestions for SUN, MON, TUES. Could go out of the city if anything worthwhile. Went to a great Zydeco SUN bruch in Breaux Bridge two years ago, but don't want to travel that far this time.

When there in MAY 2001, went to (and enjoyed) Pelican Club, Brixton's, Dunbar's, Cassamento's, Pasquale Manale's (BBQ shrimp), and a po' boy at Mother's. Telling you this by way of trying to indicate what I like. I was there for a convention so not a lot of time or energy to travel afar at that time.

I know it will be hot and humid, so not thrilled about wearing too many clothes, but will have some with me due to wedding attire conventions. Actually moved two years ago from NYC area to Albuquerque, and i'm not even that thrilled about wearing long pants any more.

I guess this will be a good chance to get my humidity fix.

Any advice will be much appreciated. I've looked over the last 3-4 months posts, but I always appreciate personal help.
