Oxymoron: inexpensive good food near Nob Hill?

I will be in beautiful SF next week for four days on business. I found a great rate at the Vintage Court (weekday $89/night! unbelievable!) and am looking for inexpensive dining options in the neighborhood. I am used to walking...

A few Chinatown recommendations (not dim sum - won't have the time) would also be welcome; I know I'll visit the MeeMee fortune cookie bakery, as I always do.

I am on a budget but would like to go out for one "nice" dinner with friends. What do you recommend? I'd like to stay around $50 pp without drinks (or less, of course).

Any advice is much appreciated...
