One of these days I am going to get a larger Dutch oven. I currently have a 5-qt oval Staub. I'd like something in the 7-8 qt size. I'll be heading to the Le Creuset outlet next week and I'll be checking out the LC and Staub at Sur la Table and Williams-Sonoma over the weekend. So, what are the advantages and disadvantages of the round vs. oval shape? Or does it even matter? Seems that chickens, pork roasts might fit better into an oval one, but I really have no experience with the round shape, so that might not even be true. Any advice, 'hounds?
