Just a head's up to turtle lovers in the area. Of all the chocolate convections out there, these are my all time favorite and I think I've found the very best around. These rich, thick nutty mouthfuls come in a variety of nuts and are encased in a bottom and top layer of dark, milk or white chocolate and they can be all yours for $18 a pound (ouch, but so worth it!) at Turtle Alley in Gloucester and Salem. I think the sandwich technique is what distinguishes them from others, plus the choice of nuts, chocolate and a perfect caramel. Oh, heck, everything about them is fantastic! The original shop where the owner can be seen making these and other delights, is in Gloucester and a satellite shop is in the little mall on Essex St, near the PEM in Salem. It is a destination place, well worth the trip to Cape Ann.

Trying to make them last by having one a day but, damn, it's hard!
