Help me outfit my kitchen (part 1)

BabyLitigator | Sep 14, 2005 12:10 PM

So I just moved into a new apartment, leaving my old, scratched up cooking equipment behind. My kitchen currently has a cast-iron skillet, a wok, a microplane grater, a blender, plastic silverware, and a pound of Baleine sea salt (don't ask).

I'll be fully outfitting it over the next 4-6 weeks, but will be doing it in parts (as the paychecks come in). Currently looking for (1) saucepan (2) stockpot (3) frying pan (4) chef's knife (5) paring knife (6) cutting board. But I'm willing to get sets if the price is right.

I'm in L.A., and have everything from restuarant supply stores (surfas) to bloomingdales (which I think has a home sale) to sur la table in the area. I'm asking if anyone has any suggestions on brands. What's good? What's worth the price, etc. Price is not no object, but I'm willing to spend if the quality is high enough. Thanks!

I'll probably post again in a week or so with the next list.
