Another thread about woks got me wondering if anyone else here uses an outdoor high heat gas wok burner? (I know, I know....I’m not cool and don’t say hob!)
I’ve had one for almost two years now and love it, especially the fact that you can whip up a yummy stir fry in a matter of minutes with crisp and crunchy cooked vegetables AND achieve the ever elusive wok hei smoky flavor that’s virtually impossible on a home range. Plus every single cooking experience is a sight to behold. Sometimes my neighbors come out and watch us cook at night from their balcony. Both the flame and the jet engine roar are something to excite, or frighten, the senses.
Obviously ALL the prep has to be done beforehand, no multitasking here, and it’s best to have a fire extinguisher on hand. But when you whip up a healthy crunch stir fry with smokey flavor, it’s hard to resist.
