I'm going camping this weekend, and would love to take advantage of the opportunity to make paella the "real" way--i.e., over a wood fire. I've got a paella pan, and have watched several Spanish friends making paella, but I haven't done it myself, especially not over a fire outside. Any tips for making paella in the great outdoors? I'd also like to use short-grain brown rice instead of the usual white--do I need to partially cook it beforehand, or can I just add it in as usual? Also, my partner's a vegetarian, so I'll be making a vegetarian paella. All tips and advice appreciated!
