Decided to go to Taj Mahal tonight. We've had some very yummy meals there in the past. Brusque service -- well, sort of service. Told exactly where to sit -- "you two against the wall, only one with a chair back to the room." Huh? He then disappeared. The table next to us bleated futilely. "We've been waiting for an hour and six minutes -- a simple meal, nothing complicated -- and the waiter keeps brushing us off," explained the woman. The three of us look at each other. Life is too short. We upped and left.
Went to the Light of India. The place is packed. Very nice waiter. And the food! Excellent! We ordered Chicken Dupiaza, a curry "briskly fried with black pepper, coriander and other spices, garnished with extra fried onions and served in a thick, rich sauce". Simply stunning. Yum. And Lamb Methi Gosht, "a curry made with special flavoured herbs and fenigreek leaves in a rich thick sauce". Also very good. And the most amazing Tarka Dhal with a wonderful smoky flavour. We were most impressed!
